Drums as instruments

Usually drum Kits aren’t tuned or in particular note, rather pitches. They are used to keep beat and be percussion. In orchestras, however there are usually a range of tuned drums, such as kettle drums, or timpani, where they are tuned and used to play melodies. The Jamaican steel drums are also a good example of this.
